Susannah Anak Rogo Sitai Liew also known as “Suzi” comes from Brunei Darussalam, situated on Borneo
northern coast in Southeast Asia. Her heritage is a fusion of Lun Bawang, Iban, and Hakka Chinese
roots, which deeply influences and inspires her artistic creations.


She earned her Bachelor of Creative Arts & Technology from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (2011 -
2015), culminating in a Capstone Project titled “Beauty of Diversity. Subsequently, she pursued her
Masters in Arts in Cultural Policy and Arts Management (2019 - 2020) at University College of Dublin,
Ireland. Her thesis, “An Exploratory Investigation On Preserving Borneo Indigenous Art and Culture,”
delved into the significance of policies in safeguarding and advocating for Borneo & indigenous arts
and cultural heritage in the face of global changes.


As an artist, Suzi fervently advocates for preserving Borneo indigenous communities, their artistic
expressions, and cultural legacy. Her art serves as a tribute to the region’s diverse wildlife while
drawing from her own cultural heritage.


Moreover, Suzi’s artworks address pressing concerns such as deforestation, loss of habitats, species
extinction, and the gradual erosion of cultural identities and wisdom. Through her creative
expressions, she endeavors to raise awareness and initiate dialogues, emphasizing the urgent need
to safeguard Borneo natural splendor and the invaluable richness of its indigenous cultures.
